The striking Indian opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma is one of the best in limited overs format. The duo has crossed the 5000-run mark, becoming the 2nd most successful Indian opening pair.

However, recent reports suggested that all is not well between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan.

Dhawan led India to a comfortable series win in West Indies in absence of his opening partner and regular captain Rohit Sharma.

As per reports, Rohit was unhappy with Dhawan’s strike rate. Rohit demands the team to play an attacking brand of cricket, whereas Dhawan has been slow in his approach. Even in the 1st ODI, when he scored 97, he took 99 balls to reach there.

Although, a member of the selection committee has rubbed off the rumours of any such rift. He said that there is no rift, but the players have different batting ideas.

He said, “There is no problem between Shikhar and Rohit. It’s just that both have different ideas. It is not a bad thing. But yes, we will have a sit down with Shikhar probably after the Zimbabwe tour on understanding his plans. If he needs to change his batting approach, Vikram and Rahul are there to talk to him. We won’t interfere.”
