David Warner has blasted Cricket Australia again for dragging the leadership ban issue. CA handed Warner a lifetime leadership ban for his involvement in a ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.
He was given a chance by the apex body to appeal against the ban last year, but the star batter withdrew his appeal. During the hearing, he had accused the independent panel and the board of asking irrelevant questions.
“It was ridiculous,” Warner told the Sydney Morning Herald. “I wanted to end the episode, but Cricket Australia was not ready. They kept on dragging it,” he added.
“No one in the association wanted to take responsibility and make decisions. There was a complete lack of leadership in Cricket Australia,” he added.
Warner said that Cricket Australia disrespected him. “They could have nipped the bud, but I was made to speak to lawyers occasionally. My mind was distracted by the proceedings, and I couldn’t concentrate on my batting.”
