Akash Deep fourth Test IND vs ENG Test series 2024
He recently took 11 wickets in two matches for India A against England Lions.

Bengal fast bowler Akash Deep is likely to get his Test cap during the upcoming fourth Test between India and England in Ranchi.

With Jasprit Bumrah rested, Akash Deepk will assist Mohammed Siraj in the pace department. Although Mukesh Kumar has returned to the squad for the remaining two games, a report by the Indian Express claimed that the selectors and the team management want to go with Akash.

He recently took 11 wickets in two matches for India A against England Lions. While Mukesh also took 10 wickets in Bengal’s Ranji Trophy 2024 match, he failed in the previous Test outing.

Mukesh managed just 1 wicket in the second Test against England while playing in Mohammed Siraj’s place, who was rested. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah added nine scalps to his bowling figures in the same contest.

Akash Deep has played 30 first-class matches since making his debut in 2019. He has taken 104 wickets at an average of 23.58 and an economy rate of 3.03. If Akash plays, he will be India’s fourth debutant in the series, with Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, and Dhruv Jurel getting Test captains in the previous games.

Team India leads the series by a margin of 2-1 and will look to win the next Test to claim the series.
