Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are likely to get lower grade in the BCCI annual contracts. The veterans have failed in the recent series and have been under the firing line. BCCI is set to demote them to Grade B category from Group A.

With Virat Kohli’s captaincy era coming to an end, the apex body of the Indian cricket can make some massive changes in the central contracts.

The draft of central contracts for the period October 2021-September 2022 is ready and the formal announcement will be made soon.

The contracts are divided into four categories: A+, A, B and C worth INR 7 crore, 5 crore, 3 crore and 1 crore respectively.

Ishant Sharma is also likely to receive a Grade B contract. Mohammed Siraj, who has been a top bowler for India in Test cricket, might be drafted to either Grade A or Grade B category from Grade C.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are set to be retained as A+ cricketers. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will be part of Grade A.
