New Zealand left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel created history on Saturday, becoming only the third bowler in Test history to claim all ten wickets in an innings.

Ajaz Patel entered record books when he became only the third player ever to take all ten wickets in a Test innings. Despite his phenomenal performance, New Zealand lost the match by 372 runs.

In an interview with Ravichandran Ashwin after the game, Ajaz disclosed he wanted to be a fast bowler but gave up to become a spinner.

Ajaz Patel grew up in Mumbai before his family moved to New Zealand when he was just seven.

“Yeah, look at me standing next to you; I don’t really have the height to be a fast bowler. So I made a great choice to switch over to spin bowling about ten years ago now. It’s been a special journey since. It’s been a lot of hard work. You know, it takes a lot of time to develop your craft.”
