Liam Livingstone with Punjab Kings
Liam Livingstone ruled out of the first game for Punjab Kings

The 16th edition of the IPL is two days away, and the tournament has been hit with several injuries, as almost every franchise is sweating hard on several key players’ fitness. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings is dealing with a different issue, as their star player Jonny Bairstow was ruled out of the coming tournament, as the ECB denied him NOC to focus on the Ashes.

In the latest development, another star English batter, Liam Livingstone, will miss the opening game for the Kings, as the 29-year-old is still recovering from the ankle injury he sustained during the Pakistan series in December.

The right-hand batter is yet to receive a fitness clearance from the ECB, which is why he will miss Punjab’s match against KKR on April 1.  An IPL source confirmed the news to PTI, where he stated that Livingstone is out of the first game, but is likely to get clearance for the 2nd match.

“ECB is conducting scans to assess Liam’s fitness. He should be available for the 2nd game.”

Notably, Punjab Kings bought Liam for 11.5 crores for IPL 2022. In the previous season, the all-rounder amassed 437 runs in 14 games, averaging 36.42.
