Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer believes Afghanistan have the ability to upset any team in the Asia Cup 2022. They will take on Sri Lanka in the first game of the tournament on August 27.
Jaffer predicted their bowlers could defend the totals if the batter put a good total on the board.
Afghanistan had a memorable outing in the 2018 Asia Cup as they finished the group stage unbeaten, registering wins over Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. They also tied up with eventual winners India but couldn’t win a game in the Super Four stage.
Speaking on ESPN Cricinfo’s Timeout, Jaffer said that Afghanistan have a good bowling attack.
“They have quality spinners, and even their fast bowlers are good. If their batters perform, they can beat any team in the Asia Cup 2022. Hence, the bowlers can defend the total if they put a competitive total on the board.”
