Punjab Kings’ new signing Vishal Nishad opened up about the massive impact Virat Kohli has on his cricketing aspirations. He confessed that if he ever finds himself in a position to dismiss Kohli, he’d honour his idol by “touching his feet.” Nishad credited the legendary batter for inspiring him to pursue a career in cricket. “My idol is Virat Kohli. His attitude and determination inspire me. He’s my favourite,” said Nishad.

“If I get him out, I’ll touch his feet because he’s my idol,” he said, showcasing the perfect mix of ambition and humility that represents the Punjab Kings attitude.

A rising star from a local T20 competition, Nishad’s move to Punjab Kings symbolizes his relentless determination, a journey fuelled by hard work and his family’s unwavering support.

“I went through difficult times. I would go with my father to help him. At one point, I even considered quitting cricket. My mother advised me to give it up and learn something else because becoming a cricketer was tough. But I didn’t give up. I told her, ‘Mom, I will definitely make it.’ Once they saw my determination, my family supported me,” Nishad recalled.

“At first, I played tennis-ball cricket. A friend saw me throw aand encouraged me to try the leather ball because he liked my action. That’s when I decided to train seriously. That’s how it all began,” he revealed.

“For three years, my coach didn’t charge me any fees. Then, I played in a local T20 tournament in Uttar Pradesh and performed well. After two years in the tournament, I found myself here with Punjab Kings,” he concluded.
