In the latest turn of events, Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa will skip the first few days of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s training camp in Chennai ahead of the upcoming edition of IPL.
Not only this, the 28-year-old is also likely to miss the tournament opener between RCB and the defending champions Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 9.
Confirming the news RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations, Mike Hesson, has revealed that the Aussie spinner is all set to get married to his girlfriend Hattie Palmer in early April.
However, Hesson did not clarify when Zampa will join the RCB squad for the IPL 2021.
“Zampa is getting married. That’s an important time for him. Something as a franchise we are aware of, we respect and hope he has a great time. So when he joins us, once again he will be fresh and makes a decent contribution for the rest of the tournament,” he said in a video posted on RCB’s official Twitter handle.
The spinner was one of the several Australian cricketers who postpone their wedding last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Bangalore-based franchise will begin its training camp on March 29.
Zampa has played 14 IPL games so far and picked up 21 wickets at an economy rate of 7.73.
