Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir has mocked Team India’s opener Abhishek Sharma, calling him a slogger who can be dismissed easily. Speaking on a Pakistani channel ahead of the IND vs PAK match in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Amir said that Abhishek is not consistent and lacks solid technique.

The two teams will compete on February 15. Abhishek hasn’t recovered from his stomach infection and is doubtful for the contest. Abhishek is the No.1 T20I batter in the ICC rankings and has been giving match-winning performances.

He has amassed 1297 at a strike rate of nearly 200, but Amir is not impressed. The former speedster revealed a plan to get rid of Abhishek.

“Abhishek Sharma is a slogger, who wants to hit every ball. The chances of failures are high. He manages to score in one out of eight innings. He is not technically sound and just slogs,” he said.

“Abhishek plays high-risk cricket. You can stationed a fielder in deep cover and bowl into his body. He will also struggle on slower deliveries,” he added.

Abhishek once said that he is aware of the variations of the bowlers, and he tries to stay ahead by practising.

“Bowlers will not give me pace in the World Cup. I have realised that in the last few games, so I am preparing to tackle different variations. If you want to play attacking cricket, you have to prepare.”
