The West Indies cricket team has landed in Pakistan to play three T20Is and many ODIs in Karachi. The visitors were escorted by heavy security to the team hotel.

The series comes three months after New Zealand left the country without playing a match, citing security concerns. New Zealand had come to Pakistan after 18 years, and their sudden departure stunned the hosts.

After the Kiwis, England cancelled the tour of Pakistan scheduled for October.

West Indies are without some of the leading star players. Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard and Lendl Simmons have opted out of the tour.

To make West Indies players feel safe, Pakistan has deployed 889 commandos, 3,822 constables and head constables, 500 RRF fighters, 46 DSPs, 315 NGOs, and 50 women police for the matches.
