The Bangladesh players have turned against their own cricket board due to the controversial remarks made by BCB director M Nazmul Islam. He called the former skipper Tamim Iqbal an Indian agent for urging the Bangladesh Cricket Board to adopt a cautious approach with the ICC and the BCCI over the ICC T20 World Cup venue row. Nazmul then mentioned that Bangladesh would not lose much if it didn’t participate in the global tournament. “There is no profit or loss if Bangladesh plays or not,” he told reporters.
He ruled out the possibility of Bangladesh players getting any reimbursement. “Why should we compensate? When they don’t perform, do we ask them to return the crores of Taka we spend on them? Answer me,” he added.
“If the board doesn’t exist, will the players exist? You are talking about just one side. I have a body, which includes two hands. I do many things with my hands. If the body were not there, my hands could not exist. They are part and parcel of each other. You can’t think of one and forget about the other. They are not against each other.”
Following the controversial comments, Bangladesh players refused to play in the Bangladesh Premier League and the Dhaka cricket league matches. The players have come up with five key demands.
1.They want a solution to the ongoing crisis in the Dhaka First Division Cricket.
2.Better response from the BCB over the allegations of sexual harassment involving women cricketers
3.Najmul’s resignation from the post of BCB director.
4.Better facilities for women cricketers.
5.More opportunities for women cricketers.
