James Anderson, who was sensational in the first Test against New Zealand, has become the number-one bowler in the ICC Test rankings.

The 40-year-old dethroned Pat Cummins from the top spot after the Australia captain had two ordinary Test outings against India.

Anderson has 866 rating points, with India’s Ravichandran Ashwin climbing to the second spot after his match-winning performances against Australia in Nagpur and Delhi.

He has 864 points, while Cummins, who has dropped to third position, has 858 points.

Ollie Robinson, the fourth-ranked bowler, saw a jump in his rating points. He has 820 points, while Team India’s injured fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is the fifth-best bowler with 795 points.

Anderson took 7 wickets in the opening game against the Kiwis, which the visitors won by 267 runs.
