Vaibhav Suryavanshi transformed an ordinary Vijay Hazare Trophy fixture into must viewing. At just 14, he tore into the Arunachal Pradesh attack, racing to a List A century off 36 deliveries.

The game rolls on at the JSCA Oval Ground, Ranchi, but the record books have already been shattered. Suryavanshi’s 36-ball century is now India’s second-fastest in List A cricket, struck during Bihar’s Plate Group match.

The disappointment of the U19 Asia Cup final was quickly erased. Suryavanshi stormed back with a whirlwind century off 36 deliveries, an innings that blurred the line between formats. Sustaining T20 velocity in a one-day game leaves fielding sides scrambling and leadership plans rapidly depleted.

India’s quickest List A hundred remains the 35-ball effort by Anmolpreet Singh for Punjab in last season’s Vijay Hazare Trophy. Suryavanshi’s 36-ball assault now places him next in line and among the fastest ever at this level, a table led by Jake Fraser-McGurk’s 29 and AB de Villiers’ 31. He does, however, stand alone as the youngest player to reach three figures in List A cricket.

Left-hand batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered a commanding performance, tearing into the attack for 190 from 84 deliveries. His strokeplay included 16 boundaries and 15 hits over the rope.

There was a moment when history seemed within reach. Chad Bowes continues to own the List A fastest double-century record at 103 deliveries, with Narayan Jagadeesan’s 114-ball double ton still leading the Vijay Hazare Trophy charts from 2022. While neither record fell, Suryavanshi ensured the cricketing world took notice.
