Netherlands defeated South Africa by 38 runs to cause one of the biggest upsets in the history of the World Cup. South Africa managed 207 runs runs while chasing 246 in 43 overs in a rain-curtailed match in Dharamshala.
Logan van Beek added three scalps. Bas de Leede, Roelof van der Merwe and Paul van Meekeren took two wickets each for the Dutch. Temba Bavuma (18), Quinton de Kock (20), Rassie van der Dussen (4), Aiden Markram (1), and Heinrich Klaasen (28) failed to get going while chasing a challenging total.
Earlier, Temba won the toss and invited the opposite team to bat first, considering the chance of rain.
South Africa were on the verge of dismissing the Netherlands below 200 runs, but sensational hitting by Scott Edwards (78), Roelof van der Merwe (29), and Aryan Dutt (23) in the last ten overs took the team to 245/8 in 43 overs.
