Ace producer-director, Karan Johar has reportedly announced to make a biopic on former India captain and current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly.
If we are to go by a report published in Mumbai Mirror, Karan Johar and Sourav Ganguly met each other for a discussion over the movie project. ‘Dada’ looks impressed and has given his consent for the movie. Now, both of them are searching for a perfect actor, who can convincingly play Sourav Ganguly’s role on the silver screen.
Off late, Bollywood has tried to encash the growing popularity of sports in India by making movies like Mary Kom, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, MS Dhoni-The untold story, Paan Singh Tomar, etc, which became an instant hit on the silver screen.
In a talk show, Ganguly had revealed that if a biopic is indeed made on his life, then he would like Hrithik Roshan to play his role as he likes him a lot.
While some sports-based movies like Soorma and Azhar weren’t able to perform satisfactorily at the box office, directors still continue to rove around the idea of sports biopics, the latest being, Ranveer Singh starrer ’83 based on former captain Kapil Dev and India’s first World Cup triumph in the year 1983.
