Former Indian skipper and current member of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), Kapil Dev has contradicted CAC’s co-member Anshuman Gaekwad’s opinion on the impact of Indian skipper, Virat Kohli’s role in the selection of team India’s head coach. Kapil Dev has said that he respects Virat Kohli’s opinion that Ravi Shastri should continue as coach of India’s Men Cricket team.

“I respect Virat Kohli’s opinion. In fact, I respect everyone’s opinion,” Dev told reporters. The former Indian cricketer was present in Kolkata to receive the honorary ‘Bharat Gaurav’, which is East Bengal’s highest honor.

Kapil Dev also feels picking India’s head coach is not a tough job. The World-Cup winning captain said, “Absolutely not. When you are doing your job right it’s never tough.”

Earlier, CAC member, Anshuman Gaekwad had asserted that Virat Kohli’s opinion would not have any impact on the selection of India’s coach.

“There’s no question of what Kohli says or anybody says,” Gaekwad told PTI. “If you remember the appointment of women’s coach, there was a lot of controversies. But we didn’t take anyone’s opinion,” the former India batsman and coach said.

“See, whatever (Virat) Kohli or (Ravi) Shastri may say, we have to adhere to BCCI. He was asked about his preference (at the press conference) and Kohli gave his preference for Ravi Shastri. We have nothing to do with that. We are neutral and we would go with an open mind,” Gaekwad said.
