Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni
Ravindra Jadeja recently revealed how Dhoni came to his rescue during 2015 World Cup and helped him to improve his batting.

Ravindra Jadeja is rated as one of best all-rounder in the world at the moment. He has raised his level of performances over the last few years and has also become a reliable lower-middle order batsman for India across formats.

But Jadeja’s batting had major issues at the beginning of his international career. There was a time when the Saurashtra-born cricketer had to face criticism for his poor shot selection. Owing to his struggles with the bat, Jadeja, was also dropped from the team on many occasions.

In his latest interview with The Indian Express, Jadeja was asked about his struggles with the shot selection at the initial stage and what the former India skipper MS Dhoni told him about the same during the 2015 World Cup.

Playing in his maiden ICC ODI World Cup in 2015, Jadeja didn’t contribute much with the bat down the order but managed to pick up 9 wickets from 8 games.

The 32-year-old recently revealed how Dhoni came to his rescue during the showpiece event and helped him to improve his batting.

“I remember Dhoni said that I was trying to hit shots against balls I shouldn’t be attempting. Shot selection was something I also felt I was doing wrong. My judgement at the start wasn’t right,” said Jadeja.

“These days, I like to take my time and I am clearer in my mind. I know I can always cover up the runs later. That change in thinking has helped,” he added.
