Pakistan limited-overs captain, Babar Azam is widely regarded as one of the finest batsmen in modern-day cricket. With his consistency and impressive batting records in all three formats, the 25-year-old Pakistani stalwart has made a name for himself. But the former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja feels that Babar still needs to learn the art of winning matches, especially looking at the benchmark set by Virat Kohli.

Babar has often been compared with the Indian captain on different scales. Sharing his views on the much-hyped Kohli-Babar debate in world cricket, Raja said it is not justified to compare both the batsmen at present as Azam has played only a few handful Test innings while Virat is a “match-winner”.

“The comparison with Virat is not justified. Virat is a match-winner. Babar has played only a handful of Tests. However, it must be great for him to be compared with Kohli. I don’t think that brings pressure on him,” Raja told Times of India.

The 58-year-old veteran also claimed that Pakistan wants Babar Azam to score big just like his Indian counterpart.

“Pakistan batting line-up wants Babar to score massively. What he has to do is becoming a match-winner now. He needs to learn that from Kohli and he’s got the potential. He’s only 25. I feel that with time, he’ll get better. He should be encouraged to be like Kohli.”
