Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara recently grabbed the headlines but not for his impressive batting style. The 31-year-old right-hander created magic on the field at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot but this time with a ball in hand.
Pujara picked up the final wicket of Mohit Jangra with his leg-spin in the nerve-wracking Ranji Trophy match on Friday. After dismissing the last player of Uttar Pradesh on the second day of the game, Pujara was over the moon. He even celebrated Jangra’s wicket with a short sprint.
Pujara took to his official Instagram handle to share a video clip of his wicket-taking moment with the fans. He wrote, “The day when I changed my Batsman status to an All-rounder.”
While many people lauded his efforts for his state team, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan tried to pull his leg in a friendly banter. He wrote, “Bhai kabhi itne tez sprint running karte waqt bhi maar liya kar. Well bowled waise”
Besides Dhawan, the world-class spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also commented on Pujara’s video and asked him to bowl more. “Incredible!! It’s time to bowl more.”
