The fourth T20I between Australia and India in Raipur was organised under emergency lights on December 1, Friday.
The contest at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium was under the scanner as its electricity connection was cut off five years ago due to non-clearance of dues of over INR 3.1 crore.
The day-night match would have been called off but generators and a temporary connection saved the day for cricket association. The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh brought generators, costing INR 1.4 crore.
A contest under floodlights needs over 1000 KW power to function. The lights alone consume 600 KW and the other lights and the air conditioning system require a minimum 435 KW.
India defeated Australia by 20 runs to clinch the series 3-1 with one more game to go. The Men in Blue posted 174/9 after being invited to bat first by Matthew Wade.
Rinku Singh (46) and Jitesh Sharma (35) were magnificent with the bat.
Australia managed 154/7 in 20 overs, with Player of the Match Axar Patel taking 3 wickets.
