Babar Azam
Former India player Mohammad Kaif has hailed the star batter, calling him the backbone of the batting unit. Babar has an impressive track record in one-day internationals.

Babar Azam is currently the only batsman to rank among the top-5 players in each of the game’s three formats. Following the Men in Green’s below-par performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, the Lahore-born cricket player announced his resignation as captain of the Pakistan cricket team in all three formats of the game.

Pakistan lost five of their nine league stage matches and was unable to advance to the semi-finals.

For the first time in the history of the ODI World Cup, Pakistan lost five games in a single edition and were placed fifth in the points table. Babar is currently training for the forthcoming three-match Test series against Australia, having relinquished his captaincy.

In order to get ready for the challenging tour, the squad is now engaged in a training camp at Pindi Cricket Stadium. Iceland Cricket took jibe at Babar in the midst of Pakistan’s preparations for their forthcoming tour of Australia.

In a widely shared X post on replying to a tweet asking, “What is something that still hasn’t gone back to normal after the pandemic?” wrote, “The batting average of Babar Azam.”

Babar’s individual performance has declined over the past couple of years. Leading to the World Cup, Babar was ranked no 1 in ODI’s. He failed to make any significant contributions to his team’s performance, which cost them the competition.

Contrary to his incredible performance in 2019, Babar could not make a major contribution in the T20I World Cup last year either.
