Shakib Al Hasan has landed himself in a big problem after failing to report a corrupt approach. The governing body of international cricket is likely to ban him for 18 months.

According to one of the country’s leading Bengali daily ‘Samakal’, “It was on the insistence of ICC that Shakib has been kept away from practice by the BCB. That’s the reason he neither featured in the practice games nor did he join the meeting late on Monday evening with the president to discuss pink-ball Test.”

Shakib had received an offer from a bookie in 2017 but he didn’t report it to the ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) He recently confessed about it to the officers of the anti-corruption unit.

Bangladesh is due to play three-match T20Is series and one Test match in India. If Shakib is banned, Mushfiqur Rahim might lead the team in Tests while Mahmudullah Riyadh Mosaddek Hosain will be asked to lead in shortest format.
