India beat Zimbabwe by 71 runs to finish the group stage as table toppers. The Men in Blue will now face England in the semi-finals on November 10 at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide.
India had qualified for the semi-finals even before the start of the match, but a victory was crucial against Zimbabwe for the team to finish at the top of the table.
Batting first, India had a slow start, but KL Rahul scored a valuable fifty to set a platform for the following batters. In the final ten overs, Suryakumar Yadav took the onus upon himself and scored a quickfire fifty, his 3rd in the tournament. India put a target of 187 for the Craig Ervine-led side.
Chasing the target, Zimbabwe succumbed in front of the Indian seamers and lost three wickets in the powerplay. In the middle overs, Ravichandran Ashwin picked up a three-wicket haul and bowled out Zimbabwe for 115.
