Glenn Maxwell had millions of reasons to smile after he was bought by RCB for a whopping sum of INR 14.25 crore at the IPL 2021 auction.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell had millions of reasons to smile after he was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a whopping sum of INR 14.25 crore at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 auction in Chennai.

After being picked by RCB, Glenn Maxwell, who was released by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) ahead of the auction, took to Twitter and said he can’t wait to join hands with Virat Kohli and Co. He also added he will give his everything to help the franchise with IPL title.

“Looking forward to joining @RCBTweets for this years @IPL Can’t wait to put everything I have into helping us lift the trophy,” wrote Maxwell.

Maxwell was caught in a tense bidding war between RCB and Chennai Super Kings that lasted 15 minutes. He will join hands with Kohli, de Villiers and fellow Aussies, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, Josh Philippe, Daniel Sams, and Daniel Christian, who was also picked by the franchise for INR 4.8 cr.

As far as this year’s mini-auction is concerned, a total of 291 players going under the hammer as England pacer Mark Wood withdrew from the auction at the end moment. All these cricketers have been shortlisted by the eight franchises.
