Apart from Mumbai, which was once the epicentre of Indian cricket, Pune has also produced a few cricketers, who have served the country. Colonel Hemu Adhikari, who played 21 Test matches for India, is among the most renowned names from Pune to have represented India. Chandu Borde had a reasonably successful India career. He played 55 Tests and averaged over 35. Hrishikesh Kanitkar will forever be remembered for the four off Saqlain Mushtaq in 1998. More recently, Kedar Jadhav became the first player from Pune to play in the World Cup when he featured in the 50-over edition in 2019.
