Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants: 5 player battles
After a brilliant first half, Nicholas Pooran seems to have gone off the boil for LSG in recent matches.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match number 58 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday, May 13. This will be the first match of the double-header. SRH are languishing at ninth in the points table, with 8 points from 10 games. In their last match, they stunned Rajasthan Royals (RR) by four wickets. LSG are fifth in the points table, with 11 points from as many matches. In their last match, they were hammered by Gujarat Titans (GT) by 56 runs. Here are player battles for SRH vs LSG IPL 2023 match 58.

#1 Abhishek Sharma vs Avesh Khan

SRH batter Abhishek Sharma has played a few impressive knocks for the franchise in IPL 2023. In eight matches, he has scored 203 runs at an average of 25.38 and a strike rate of 152.63, with two half-centuries. Against Rajasthan Royals, he contributed a significant 55 off 34 balls.

LSG pacer Avesh Khan has had a mixed IPL 2023 so far. In eight matches, he has picked up seven wickets at an average of 36.14 and an economy rate of 9.37. However, he has picked up only one wicket in his last three matches. Can he lift himself against Abhishek?

#2 Quinton de Kock vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar

After a long wait, Quinton de Kock finally got his chance in the playing XI for LSG. The South African keeper-batter made it count, smashing 70 off 41 balls against Gujarat Titans, with the aid of seven fours and three sixes. He will be hungry to keep scoring heavily.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has done a good job for SRH, especially at the start of the innings. In most matches, he has claimed the first wicket to fall for the team. In 10 matches, the experienced pacer has picked up nine scalps at an average of 32.33 and an economy rate of 8.31. Can he get rid of De Kock early?

#3 Heinrich Klaasen vs Ravi Bishnoi

Heinrich Klaasen has done a superb job for SRH in the second half of the innings. Almost every time he has come in and has made a significant contribution, with his team in some sort of trouble. The South African big-hitter has clubbed 215 runs at a strike rate of 185.34. The franchise will want him to continue batting in the same mode.

LSG leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi continues to impress. In 11 matches, he has claimed 12 wickets at an average of 24.08 and an economy rate of 7.92. While he went wicketless against GT, he chipped in with two wickets each in the two matches before that. His battle with Klaasen could be intriguing.

#4 Nicholas Pooran vs T Natarajan

After a brilliant first half, Nicholas Pooran seems to have gone off the boil for LSG in recent matches. In his last three innings, he has registered scores of 9, 20 and 3. Pooran is a key member of the Lucknow batting outfit. LSG will want him to find his groove.

His numbers might not be exceptional, but T Natarajan has done a good job with the ball for SRH at the death in recent games. He seems to have rediscovered his rhythm and the yorker is coming out nicely out of his hand. Nattu will look to keep Pooran quiet.

#5 Glenn Phillips vs Yash Thakur

Glenn Phillips played a sensational cameo of 25 in seven balls against RR. His assault on Kuldip Yadav, which saw him striking three sixes and a four, swung the game in SRH’s favor. Hyderabad were banking on Harry Brook but could have shown better confidence in Phillips earlier.

Yash Thakur has had a mixed time with the ball for LSG. He has claimed five wickets in five matches but has an economy rate of 9.27. Phillips will look to go after the pacer, but it also provides an opportunity for Thakur to claim his wicket.
