Gujarat Titans (GT) hammered Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 56 runs in match number 51 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 7. In the first match of the double-header, LSG won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, GT ended up posting a fabulous 227/2 in their 20 overs. In the chase, Gujarat held Lucknow to 171/7. Wriddhiman Saha (9/10): Played a terrific knock of 81 in only 43 balls. Took the attack to Lucknow’s bowling and stunned them into submission. Struck 10 fours and four sixes in his entertaining innings. It needed a brilliant catch from substitute Prerak Mankad on the boundary to end the wonderful knock.
Shubman Gill (9/10): Played another sublime knock and remained unbeaten on 94 off 51 balls. Found the boundaries with ease and ended up hitting two fours and as many as seven sixes. Was unlucky to miss out on a hundred.
Hardik Pandya (5.5/10): Contributed a quickfire 25 off 15 balls, striking one four and two sixes. Was expensive with the ball, conceding 37 runs in three overs. Did not claim a wicket.
David Miller (6/10): Chipped in with a nice cameo of 21 not out in 12 balls, hitting two fours and a six. Provided the final flourish to the GT innings in the company of Gill.
Rashid Khan (7.5/10): Took a superb catch to dismiss Kyle Mayers. Got the big wicket of Quinton de Kock. Ended with decent figures of 1/34 from his four overs.
Mohit Sharma (8.5/10): Excelled with the ball yet again, claiming four wickets for 29 runs. Helped himself to four wickets as LSG batters tried to keep up with the scoring rate. Got the scalps of Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya.
Noor Ahmad (7.5/10): Made a big impact once again. Bowled his four overs for only 26 runs. Claimed the massive wicket of Nicholas Pooran.
Mohammed Shami (6/10): Was slightly expensive, going for 37 runs in his four overs. Got the wicket of the struggling Deepak Hooda.
Lucknow Super Giants
Quinton de Kock (8.5/10): Playing his first match of the season, top-scored for LSG with 70 off 41 balls. Smashed seven fours and three sixes, looking in complete control until being bowled by Rashid Khan.
Kyle Mayers (8/10): Began with a bang, but lost steam towards the second half of the innings. Ended up scoring 48 off 32 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes. It needed a stunning catch by Rashid Khan to end his stay at the crease.
Ayush Badoni (6/10): Scored a brisk 21 off 11 with the aid of one four and two sixes. Was one of Mohit Sharma’s four victims.
Deepak Hooda (2/10): Registered another failure with the bat. Was out for a run-a-ball 11, trying to go after Mohammed Shami.
Krunal Pandya (3/10): Had a forgettable match. Did not claim a wicket and went for 38 runs in his four overs. Was out for a golden duck, falling to Mohit Sharma.
Marcus Stoinis (1/10): Conceded 20 runs in the only over he bowled. Made only 4 with the bat in hand.
Nicholas Pooran (1/10): Was dismissed for 3 off 6 balls.
Yash Thakur (2/10): Was highly expensive. Conceded 48 runs in four overs. Did not claim a wicket.
Ravi Bishnoi (3/10): Bowled two overs for 21 runs. Went wicketless.
Mohsin Khan (3/10): Looked unfit. Bowled three overs for 42 runs. Managed to get the wicket of Hardik Pandya.
Avesh Khan (6/10): Was comparatively economical with the ball in hand. Bowled his four overs for 34 runs and got the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha.
