The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season is set to see Rajasthan Royals face Sunrisers Hyderabad in match number 28 on Sunday. The match is set to be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. This is the first of the doubleheader lined up for the day. The Royals are placed seventh in the table, winning just two of their six games. Meanwhile, the Orange Army have managed a solitary win from their six games so far. They occupy the eighth position.

The Royals need to produce substance across departments against SRH. RR haven’t managed to produce consistency with bat and ball so far. They were beaten convincingly by Mumbai Indians in the previous encounter and what we want to see from RR is more urgency. The top three need to fire and one batter must ensure he stays for the desired time anchoring the innings. With the ball, RR need their attributes to come good. The Delhi track has helped batsmen, therefore a tall score will be desired. Given the strength of SRH bowlers, RR could struggle if they don’t arrest the slide.

The SRH are also in a spot of bother and things aren’t working well for them. With just one win from six, SRH haven’t looked convincing. In their previous match, Warner batted for a long time but didn’t show the desired aggression. That cost the side at least 15-20 runs and CSK got past the 172-run target with nine balls to spare. He has been sacked and now Kane Williamson will lead the side. SRH’s middle order has been an issue of late and the onus lies on the top four to fire. With Manish Pandey’s return, the side gets a lift. One between Warner and Jonny Bairstow will need to take the step to play an aggressive knock.

Key details of the match

The match is set to be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It’s scheduled to start at 3:30 PM IST. Fans can watch the action live on the Star Sports Network in their preferred languages. One can also stream the match live on the Disney+ Hotstar app (paid subscription).

Here’s the preview

After showing character against KKR, RR faltered against champions MI. However, there were certain positives. Jos Buttler got some much-needed runs at the top. Young Yashasvi Jaiswal looked fresh. Skipper Sanju Samson and all-rounder Shivam Dube showed character. With the ball, Chris Morris has done an able job this season. He has claimed 11 wickets so far. Uncapped Chetan Sakariya has also shown character. Against SRH, the likes of Mustafizur Rahman and Jaydev Unadkat will need to show their experience. If RR can target the SRH top four, then that will help them in making inroads. With the bat, the onus lies on Buttler and Samson. They have to take the attack to the opposition.

SRH haven’t hit the heights as expected. The team is known for its consistency but unfortunately, that has gone missing this season. With the bat, SRH have struggled big time. Warner hasn’t looked at his best in terms of taking the route of the aggressor. Bairstow has lacked the bite in terms of consistency. Kane Williamson’s return has however served a boost. They need to utilise him well. With the ball, SRH must give more. Kedar Jadhav adds experience in the middle. Rashid Khan is the leader of the pack here. He will be aiming to perform well against RR and tighten things. The likes of Khaleel Ahmed and Siddarth Kaul need more character to stop RR.

Which players can be the top picks in the Dream11 team?

Chris Morris deserves a shout for his exploits so far. He has done well with the ball and is a genuine wicket-taker.

Kane Williamson deserves a spot after impressing since coming to the side. He can bat at numerous positions and score important runs.

Dream11 fantasy: Captain choices

Chris Morris: The RR all-rounder is his side’s best bet to make things work on the field. He is an able wicket-taker besides being known for his attributes in getting the big shots.

Kane Williamson: He is yet to be dismissed in IPL 2021 since returning in the last three games from injury. Williamson has the pedigree to shine.

Dream11 fantasy: Vice-captain choices

In terms of vice-captaincy, Samson is the best option. He has played two crucial knocks in the last two games for RR.

Rashid Khan can make a contribution. He has been amongst the wickets.

Pitch report and conditions

The pitch will support batsmen and one expects a high-scoring affair. However, the temperature will be around the 40 degree Celsius mark. An afternoon clash will test players.

Kotla stats

Seeing the trajectory in Delhi, the pitch could be on the slower side and will assist spinners. Anything around the 170-run mark will be crucial. It’s set to be a hot evening and players need to look after themselves.

Head-to-head record

The two teams have faced each other on 13 occasions. SRH have the edge, winning seven games. RR have won the remaining six.

Match prediction

We feel RR can get past the line here. They could make SRH’s life harder in IPL 2021.
