Maxwell went on to hit a sublime 78, racking up nine fours and three sixes. The Million Dollar Man smashed his second successive fifty.

Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore beat the Kolkata Knight Riders by 38 runs in match number nine of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season on Sunday. After electing to bat first, RCB posted a staggering 204/4. Glenn Maxwell (78) and AB de Villiers (76*) scored sparkling fifty-plus scores to dent the KKR bowlers, who were forced to go awry with their length and line.

Maxwell was part of two glorious fifty-plus stands for the RCB, taking control of the tie in Chennai. He attacked almost every bowler and didn’t allow them to settle down. Meanwhile, ABD came in and looked positive from the start. He freed his arms once getting his eyes set and played some masterful strokes. The two batsmen were on song and made KKR pay for some ordinary bowling.

KKR needed a brisk start and someone who could stay till the end. However, nobody took that initiative as the side lost crucial wickets at regular intervals. Lack of partnerships and allowing RCB hit them hard, cost the side. This was a second successive loss for KKR and RCB gained two crucial points.

Here we highlight the key records that were set in the match.

Records for Maxwell and ABD
