Put into bat, RR managed 177/9 on a track that had runs in it. None of the batsmen went on to stay till the end and take RR past a decent total. Meanwhile, RCB saw the likes of Devdutt Padikkal (101*) and Virat Kohli (72*) score rapidly to take RCB (181/0) past the RR’s total of 177 in just 16.3 overs.

With this win, RCB have now won four games in a row to get back to the top of the IPL 2021 standings. They have eight points with a NRR of +1.009.

RR got off to a poor start, losing three wickets for just 18 runs and managed 32/3 in the powerplay overs. They were reduced to 43/4 before Shivam Dube (46) and Riyan Parag (25) added a fifty-plus stand. RR found some momentum, but the RCB bowlers got back in the game.

6,000 IPL runs for Virat Kohli

RCB captain Virat Kohli is now the the first batsman in IPL history to surpass the 6,000-run mark. Kohli has raced to 6,021 runs at an average of 38.35. He is well ahead of the second-highest run-scorer in the IPL – Suresh Raina (5,448). Kohli also slammed his 40th IPL fifty, becoming the third batsman to notch 40 or more fifties in the tournament.

Kohli registers these records against RR

The RCB stalwart has surpassed the 500-run mark against Rajasthan Royals. He is now just the sixth player to do so. Kohli has accumulated 554 runs against RR and is now the fourth-highest scorer against them after Shikhar Dhawan, who has 556 runs. Kohli also hit his fourth fifty against the Royals and equaled his best score against them 72*.

Ton-up Padikkal slams these records

RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal hit his maiden century in the IPL. The youngster has become the second batsman in IPL 2021 to hit a ton after Sanju Samson. The 20-year-old batsman has also become the third uncapped player to score an IPL ton. He slammed a whopping 11 fours and six sixes. Notably, Padikkal is the third-youngest to score a ton in the IPL (20 years 289 days).

Partnership record for Kohli and Padikkal

Kohli and Padikkal stitched a valiant 181-run stand against RR. With this tally, they have amassed the second-best partnership for any wicket by a side in the IPL against the Rajasthan Royals. Meanwhile, their unbeaten 181-run stand is also the highest for RCB against the Royals for any wicket. Their record-breaking stand is also the fourth-highest for RCB in the IPL. It is also the highest opening stand for RCB in IPL history.

Unique records for RCB

RCB are the only team to win four IPL matches by a margin of 10 wickets. In fact, no other team in the IPL has managed it on more than two occasions. With Padikkal’s century, RCB now boast of the most centuries from a team in the IPL (14). They steered clear of Punjab Kings (13). Kohli is the first player to be part of RCB’s four highest stands in the IPL. This is also a record for any side in the IPL.

Other notable records

Kohli and Padikkal’s 181-run stand is now the joint-second biggest chase in the IPL without losing a wicket. Harshal Patel claimed three scalps. He is now the first bowler this season to breach the 10-wicket mark (12). Mohammed Siraj (3/27) has 58 IPL wickets. He has surpassed the legendary Shane Warne (57).
