The Indian Premier League (IPL) keeps producing rising stars who go on to become important faces in India’s limited-overs side. Over the years, the IPL helped massively in giving players like Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Krunal Pandya. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have broken into the scene in recent times. Against Sri Lanka in a limited-overs series in July, several uncapped players including Ruturaj Gaikwad, Varun Chakravarthy, Nitish Rana, and even Chetan Sakariya made their debuts for India. There are many players in the IPL who could get a taste of international cricket in the future. As the IPL is ongoing in the UAE, expect more fireworks from these players. India need all-rounders and with Hardik Pandya struggling with injuries of late, a genuine batter who can bowl pace is needed. This brings KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer to the picture. He only made his KKR debut as the IPL resumed from September 19 onwards. And in the four games, Iyer has scored runs freely besides bowling so well against DC and taking two wickets. He is an excellent fielder as well. If Iyer ends the season on a strong note, expect him to knock on the door.
The KKR batsman is a floater and can do well across different positions. When India use two different teams during tours, Tripathi can be looked upon, He can come in anywhere in the top-order or be used lower down. A consistent force, Tripathi has the experience and is doing well for KKR. He has a great range of shots and is KKR’s highest scorer this season.
The Punjab Kings bowler is a real deal and since IPL 2020, he has become a prominent face. With India struggling to nail down a genuine left-arm pacer, Arshdeep can fit the bill. He has a strong character and a huge set of varieties in his armoury. Arshdeep has 13 wickets this season at 17.92. He claimed nine scalps last season.
India have a strong pool of spinners and variety in white-ball cricket but adding another option to see how he performs won’t be harmful. This brings Ravi Bishnoi into the picture. The PBKS spinner is extremely talented and being nurtured by Anil Kumble, things can only go north for him, Bishnoi brings consistency and has nine wickets this season.
Bishnoi’s team-mate in the U-19 World Cup squad for India in 2020, Tyagi is a promising pacer who has the attributes of making it big, He has shown his credentials at a young age for RR. After claiming nine wickets last season, he has done reasonably well in the few opportunities this campaign. His heroics included defending four runs in the final over.
He is definitely in line to make his India debut soon. The talented Harshal is the Purple Cap holder in IPL 2021. He is the first uncapped bowler to claim 25-plus wickets in a season. Harshal has been producing consistency for RCB since the start of the season and he recently claimed a hat-trick as well. He is the X-factor for RCB and is strong mentally.
The right-arm spinner could provide competition to India’s set of spin all-rounders in the coming future. This DC all-rounder is pretty handy with the ball and has the knack of claiming crucial wickets. Making his IPL debut this season, Lalit has an economy rate of 7.21 and has four wickets under his belt. He will hope to end the season highly.
The RR youngster can be groomed well. He is a real talent and has all the shots in the textbook. India’s former U-19 star, Yashasvi has now become a regular in the RR set-up. He can become a pivotal force like Shikhar Dhawan for Team India in the future. Yashasvi’s talent can take him to places.
The talented PBKS left-arm spin all-rounder is a real talent on offer. He had to wait long for an IPL contract after bagging the same a couple of seasons earlier, Brar hasn’t disappointed in the limited chances for PBKS. In eight IPL matches, he has five wickets. He can be a serious threat to Krunal and Axar in India’s T20 set-up soon.
The 22-year-old KKR pacer hasn’t been used as much this season but being in the set-up over the last three seasons has helped him. He has 16 wickets in 20 IPL games. Mavi has shown many times his credentials of bowling well across phases. He has been given the duty to handle pressure situations. This has done a ton of good mentally wise. In IPL 2021. He has an economy rate of 6.33, besides two scalps from three games.
