Overview:
The Italy national cricket team, known as Gli Azzurri, is an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is set to start from February 7 onwards. India and Sri Lanka are the co-hosts of the tournament. Group C of the tournament features the likes of West Indies, England, Scotland, Italy and Nepal.
February 7 sees the 1st match of Group C. West Indies will take on Scotland at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Notably, England and the West Indies are the favourites to progress from this group.
Two teams from this 5-side group will progress to the Super 8 stage. The Super 8 will also be divided into two groups, and the two sides from there will progress to the last 4.
The 2026 ICC T20 World Cup is the tournament’s 10th edition. The event had its inaugural campaign in 2007. India are the defending champions, having won the title last time in 2024.

Scotland did not qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after missing the cut in the European Qualifiers. However, they got the ticket after Bangladesh boycotted the event after falling out with the ICC. Bangladesh asked the ICC to relocate their games to Sri Lanka from India, to which the governing council disagreed.

The Italy national cricket team, known as Gli Azzurri, is an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The team is governed by the Italian Cricket Federation, which joined the ICC as an affiliate in 1984 before being elevated to Associate status in 1995.
Italy are set to make history at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, marking their debut appearance at the tournament. Their qualification came after a strong campaign at the 2025 Europe Regional Final, where they finished as runners-up. This milestone will also represent Italy’s first-ever appearance at a major ICC global event, a significant step forward for cricket in the country.

Nepal earned their place in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup through strong performances in the international qualifying pathway. After excelling in the 2025 Asia Regional Qualifier, they advanced to the Global Qualifier, where their consistent form against other associate nations secured their spot in the tournament.
