England and India are set to play a three-match T20Is, starting July 7. India will play the squad that played the Ireland series recently for the first encounter in Southampton. A few senior players will join the side for the remaining two games. For the 2nd and 3rd T20I matches, the likes of Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant have been added to the squad.
For England, Jos Buttler will lead the side and would want to showcase his team’s strengths to outwit India at home.
The two teams have met on 19 occasions in T20Is, with India having the edge (10-9). Notably, India won the last bilateral series by a 3-2 margin in 2021 back home. The batter-bowler match-ups for this series will be a key one and present the player battles in the same regard.

Jos Buttler is the most destructive T20 batter in the present day. He can be menacing against India. Buttler is the second-highest scorer for England in T20Is, having racked up 2,140 runs. His work will be to provide an aggressive start for the hosts alongside Jason Roy. If anyone can keep Buttler quiet, it is Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The right-arm pacer is the 3rd-highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is (66). As per Cricmetric, Bhuvi has bowled 29 balls to Buttler and conceded 28 runs. He has dismissed Buttler three times.
Yuzvendra Chahal vs Moeen Ali
India’s most successful bowler in t20Is – Yuzvendra Chahal – can prove to be a crucial customer against someone as destructive as Moeen Ali. The wrist-spinner has 75 T20I wickets, besides 12 against England. He will be key in the middle overs and would want to stop Moeen from settling himself in. In T20Is, Chahal has bowled one delivery to Moeen, dismissing him of the same. This could be an interesting show.
Chris Jordan vs Suryakumar Yadav
Chris Jordan is a leading veteran of the game, having taken 80 wickets for the Three Lions. He would be hoping to get game time and showcase his strengths. His battle against Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav will be key. In T20Is, Jordan has managed to bowl 11 balls to Surya, who has scored 21 runs. There have been three dot balls and four fours. Overall in T20Is, SKY has scored 366 runs.
Harshal Patel vs Liam Livingstone
Harshal Patel’s stock has risen of late, and he is now a prominent figure in this T20I side after having been impressive in the IPL. He is a class death bowler, bowling plenty of variations and not giving away much. His accuracy will test someone like Liam Livingstone, who can be destructive in death overs with the bat. Livingstone enjoyed a terrific IPL campaign and will be a key asset for England. In T20 cricket, Harshal has bowled 10 deliveries to Livingstone, conceding nine runs. He has dismissed Liam on one occasion.
