Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by four wickets in match number 41 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, April 30. Batting first after winning the toss in the first match of the double-header, CSK posted 200/4. In response, PBKS got home off the last ball in a thrilling finish. Chennai Super Kings

Ruturaj Gaikwad (6/10): Got another good start. Scored 37 off 31. Was stumped off Sikandar Raza’s bowling.

Devon Conway (9.5/10): Played yet another terrific knock. Carried the CSK innings on his shoulders. Hit 16 fours and a six in his unbeaten 92 off 52 balls. Seems to be batting in a different zone.

Moeen Ali (4/10): Was out for 10 off six balls. Bowled one over for 10.

Shivam Dube (6/10): Looked good again. Slammed 28 off 17 balls with the aid of one four and two sixes. Miscued a slower ball off Arshdeep Singh.

Ravindra Jadeja (7.5/10): Struggled with the bat. Was out for 12 off 10 balls. Impressed with the ball, claiming 2/32. Dismissed Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Taide.

MS Dhoni (7/10): Played a fine cameo of 13 not out in four balls. Struck two sixes. Effected the stumping of Prabhsimran Singh off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling. 

Matheesha Pathirana (6.5/10): Did a good job with the ball. Bowled four overs for 32. Got the wicket of Sam Curran.

Tushar Deshpande (7.5/10): Went for 49 runs, but picked up three wickets as well. Got the big scalps of Shikhar Dhawan, Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma.

Maheesh Theekshana (5/10): Went wicketless this time. Bowled his four overs for 36 runs.

Akash Singh (2/10): Was expensive with the ball again. Bowled three overs for 35 runs. 

Punjab Kings 

Prabhsimran Singh (8/10): Came in as the ‘Impact Player’ and made a significant contribution. Struck four fours and two sixes in his 42 off 24 balls. Was stumped off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling.

Atharva Taide (3.5/10): Struggled for rhythm with the bat. Scored 13 off 17 balls. Chipped a return catch to Ravindra Jadeja.

Shikhar Dhawan (6/10): Got PBKS off a brisk start in a big chase. Scored a quickfire 28 off 15 balls, hitting four fours and a six. Fell in an attempt to go after Tushar Deshpande.

Liam Livingstone (8/10): Came to the party for PBKS. Hammered a defining 40 off 24 balls with the aid of one four and four sixes. Brought Punjab back in the game after the loss of a couple of wickets.

Sikandar Raza (8/10): Broke the dangerous CSK opening stand. Had Ruturaj Gaikwad stumped with a good delivery. Held his nerve under pressure and hit the winning runs, remaining unbeaten on 13 off seven balls.

Sam Curran (6.5/10): Got the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja, but was expensive with the ball. Went for 46 runs in his four overs. Chipped in with a handy 29 off 20 in the chase. Was bowled by Matheesha Pathirana.

Jitesh Sharma (7/10): Played another crucial cameo. Slammed 21 off only 10 balls, striking two fours and a six. Ensured Punjab stayed in the hunt till the end.

Kagiso Rabada (5/10): Did not pick up a wicket, but was reasonably economical. Registered figures of 0/34 from his four overs.

Rahul Chahar (7/10): Had Moeen Ali stumped. Impressed with the ball, ending with figures of 1/35.

Arshdeep Singh (6/10): Got the big wicket of Shivam Dube. Finished with 1/37 from his four overs.
