England Cricket Team Players

England is regarded as the birthplace of cricket. England and Australia were the first teams to play Test matches (March 15-19, 1877). The same two sides also played the first ODI on January 5, 1971. England’s first T20I was played on June 13, 2005, and came against Australia. The England-Australia Ashes rivalry is the oldest in cricket and one of the game’s biggest. During the 1938 Ashes, Len Hutton scored 364, which remains the highest by an Englishman in Test cricket.

While England have won the Ashes 32 times, they have lifted the T20 World Cup twice (2010 and 2022) and the ODI World Cup (2019). In fact, they are the reigning world champions in both formats. The English side also made the 50-over final in 1979, 1987, and 1992 and the T20 World Cup final in 2016. The 2019 World Cup final ended in a tie, and so did the Super Over, but England were declared the winner on the boundary count rule.
