On Thursday, March 16, Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi locked horns with Islamabad United in the first eliminator of PSL 8, with Zalmi emerging as the better side to advance further in the tournament.
Babar shone for his side as the 28-year-old smashed 64(39) before getting out to Shadab Khan after failing to read a googly, which is one of his biggest weaknesses for a long time.
Besides his heroic knock, Babar Azam, alongside Shadab Khan, hogged the internet over the mode of dismissal. Notably, in the 13th over, Shadab came to the attack when during one of the balls, the bail went down and while putting it back in its place, Khan murmured that he will get Babar out in this over.
As rightly predicted, Khan got hold of his national teammate in the last ball of the over. Fans took to Twitter to hail Shadab’s prediction, but a section of fans raised fingers at the dismissals and even accused the duo of spot-fixing, as Babar refused to take the DRS.
In the end, Babar’s team progressed further as Islamabad United fell short of 12 runs.
