Kolkata Knight Riders’ 2-wicket defeat against Chennai Super Kings eliminated them from the league table. With five wins and 6 defeats, the defending champions registered another poor season in the history of the tournament. KKR have been found wanting across departments in the 18th season, with all the players showing inconsistency. In their latest clash with Chennai, the batters batted without any purpose, while the bowlers couldn’t contain the batters when it mattered the most.
Batting first, Kolkata posted just 179/6 in 20 overs, with Noor Ahmad taking four wickets. Chennai were 65/5 at one stage, but Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube took on the rivals and contributed to the success of the team with the Super Kings reaching the target in 19.4 overs.
Harbhajan Singh was not pleased with the performance of his former franchise. He accused them of not playing with intention.
“They bowled a lot of full tosses. Vaibhav Arora was bowling as if it were the 20th over and not the 11th over. ‘We don’t want to win, and you take the gift.’ This is what they played like. CSK batters were not trying to hit the big shots, but Vaibhav allowed them. ‘Don’t fear, I will be there next year, ‘ was Brevis’ message,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.
