Virat Kohli Kumar Sangakkara
He equalled the world record of Kumar Sangakkara.

Team India lost the opening ODI against Bangladesh by one wicket as a tenth-wicket stand between Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Mustafizur Rahman helped the home team to complete the chase of 187.

The Men in Blue are now looking to equal the series in the second game at the same venue. In the contest, former India captain Virat Kohli has a chance of equalling two major records in ODIs.

Virat has 979 runs in 17 matches and needs 21 runs from completing 1000 runs in ODI cricket in Bangladesh. He has an average of 75.30 with five centuries and three fifties.

The 34-year-old will have a chance to become the second batter after Kumar Sangakkara to accumulate 1000 runs in one-day-internationals in Bangladesh. Sri Lanka great scored 1045 runs in 21 matches.

If he achieves the feat, the right-handed batter will become the fifth batter in world cricket to have scored 1000 or more runs in three countries away from home. Virat will join Ponting, Aravinda de Silva, Arjuna Ranatunga, and Sourav Ganguly.

Sachin Tendulkar scored 1000-plus runs in most countries, with his tally at five, followed by Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardene (4).
