Team India is lacking batters who can bowl in international cricket. In the second game against New Zealand, the Men in Blue dropped Sanju Samson to add Deepak Hooda, who can also bowl.
This has become an issue for the team, as playing a game with five recognized bowlers has often resulted in defeats. There was no such issue when Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Yuvraj Singh played cricket. They bowled many overs fulfilling the quota of a 6th bowler.
Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra recalled how Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar used to help striker bowlers of the team.
“Why don’t our batters bowl now? Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, and Sachin Tendulkar used to bowl but now no one bowls. The batters don’t bowl in the nets anymore. They bat, field, and leave. So it is a big problem,” said Chopra.
