India captain Rohit Sharma was not a part of the first Test after injuring his thumb in the ODIs. However, he is likely to return for the second Test, which will be played in Mirpur starting December 22.
His return will create a selection headache after stunning centuries from Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara.
When former India player Ajay Jadeja was asked who would sit out when Rohit returns, he gave a surprising answer.
Gill was the one who would have been benched had Rohit not gotten injured, but the youngster made full use of the opportunity and scored his maiden hundred in red-ball cricket.
Pujara was the best batter in the game, scoring a century and 90 across both innings.
If Rohit returns, Gill will be dropped from the Playing XI. However, Jadeja suggested that Rohit should remain at the NCA.
“Rohit ko bolo ghar me baithne kai liye. He needs more time to recover from his thumb injury. We don’t know about the extent of injury yet that’s why I want him to get fully fit before returning to the team.”
