Sourav Ganguly
Sourav commented after Pakistan's government allowed its national team to compete against the Men in Blue on February 15.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly said that Shreyas Iyer has improved a lot as a batter in the last one year. Iyer played a match-winning knock for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their 11-run win over Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

PBKS captain amassed an unbeaten 97 off 42 balls, laced with 9 sixes and five boundaries. Chasing 244 runs, the rivals managed 232/5 in their allotted overs. Ganguly mentioned that the 30-year-old cricketer is ready to play all three formats for the national team.

“Shreyas Iyer the most improved batsman in last 1 yr .. ready for all formats. Great to see his improvement after a few issues on length,” he wrote on X.

Shreyas has played one-day internationals, but the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has ignored him in Tests and T20Is. He was Team India’s highest run-scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

India will play a five-Test series against England and there is a possibility of Iyer travelling with the squad.

Meanwhile, Shreyas will be looking to continue his run-scoring spree when the Kings take on Rishabh Pant’s Lucknow Super Giants on April 1 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
