Michael Vaughan took a dig at Pakistan after the visitors lost to England in the second T20I. ECB had called back its players from the Indian Premier League 2024 for the series against Pakistan. The first contest was abandoned due to rain.

Former English captain commented after Pakistan lost the Edgbaston T20I by 23 runs. Vaughan said that some of the England players should have been allowed to play for their IPL franchises.

Speaking at the Club Praire podcast, Vaughan felt that England missed a trick by not letting the players to complete their IPL stint.

“England missed the trick by recalling players from India. Will Jacks, Phil Salt, Jos Buttler would have benefitted by playing in the playoffs because of competition level and pressure of fans. I would say that playing in IPL is better than playing against Pakistan,” Vaughan said in the podcast.

England are the defending champions of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

“I am all for international cricket. However, the league in India is exposed to pressure. The players are put under pressure by fans, owners, and social media. I wanted to see Will Jacks and Phil Salt turning up for RCB and KKR in the second round of IPL,” he added.
