Former India player Irfan Pathan has hailed Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins, calling him the captain of the 17th season. He was added to the squad for INR 20.5 crore and guided the franchise to their first final in eight years.

Pathan said that Cummins has led from the front and shown his team that he doesn’t run away from responsibilities.

“Pat Cummins has bowled with a new ball in some matches. He has also rolled his arm over in the middle phase of the contest. He has bowled the 19th and 20th overs as well. Pat has taken up new roles in the season.

“He doesn’t run away from responsibilities. Pat has inspired his teammates, who are also giving their best,” Irfan Pathan said.

Pathan feels that Cummins has brought all his experience into play.

“He has used all his experience to get the best out of his teammates. They have accepted him as their true leader. He has a big heart and that has helped him in motivating the young guns. For me, he is the captain of the season,” Irfan Pathan added.

Pat Cummins has taken 17 wickets.
