Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been banned for 20 months by ILT20 due to breach of contract. He represented Sharjah Warriors in the recently concluded season. In 9 matches, Naveen took 11 wickets at an average of 24.36.
Sharjah Warriors wanted to retain him for another year on the same conditions but the player turned down their offer.
“All the players and franchise are expected to follow the rules and regulations. Naveen-ul-Haq failed to honour the terms and conditions of his contract with the Sharjah Warriors and hence the league has banned him for 20 months ,” ILT20 CEO David White said.
“The disciplinary proceedings were conducted in a fair manner and Naveen and Sharjah Warriors were given opportunities to make their submissions,” he added.
Naveen was a part of the ICC World Cup 2013, which was his last assignment in one-day internationals. He announced retirement from the fifty-over format to manage his workload and focus on T20 cricket.
Naveen will play for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2024.
