The Pakistan- New Zealand Test series concluded without a result as both Tests ended in a draw. The Babar Azam-led side failed to win a single series on their home turf in the 2021-2023 World Test Championship.
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Ahmed, who replaced Mohammad Rizwan, returned to the Test side after four years. He grabbed the opportunities with both hands and registered a fifty-plus score in every innings in this series. Further, the keeper scored a hundred in the final innings of the 2nd Test.
The 35-year-old won the player of the series award, and a new debate emerged on the net, where the fans demanded Ahmed to be Rizwan’s permanent replacement in the red-ball cricket.
The debate led to rumours that things are not well between Rizwan and Sarfaraz. The viewers also recalled Pakistani analyst Sikander Bakht’s remarks in September, where he revealed that Rizwan does not want Sarfaraz in the team.
However, Rizwan has broken his silence on the topic and posted a tweet praising Sarfaraz.
“Brilliant knock by Saifi bhai again. This is what hard work and belief in Allah get you. Mujhe Saifi bhai k Man of the Series hone se aisi hi khushi jase ye mujhe mila ho. Balnk yaqeenan us se bhi zada. Khush rahain @SarfarazA_54 bhai,” posted Rizwan.
