Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s dream of winning the Indian Premier League was crushed by Rajasthan Royals as the Sanju Samson-led franchise defeated them by four wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Royals from Bengaluru were unstoppable in their last six games. Earlier, they lost seven matches and won just one contest in the first half of the season.

The players came together to stun the rivals, winning six matches on the trot, including the last league encounter with Chennai Super Kings.

They entered the next round with a bang but Rajasthan showed them the brutal reality of cricket. Meanwhile, Bengaluru players and fans went on a celebration mode after crushing Chennai by 27 runs.

Many felt that the team crossed the line in its celebrations and also criticised them after MS Dhoni walked off without shaking hands with the rivals.

Former India captain and the 1983 World Cup winner, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, said that they shouldn’t have “posted unnecessary videos & showed off” after beating CSK.

“In life when you are performing well keep your mouth shut and keep moving forward. When you make noise after achieving something, you cannot complete the work to the fullest,” he said.

Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets against RCB and was named the Player of the Match.

“If you play well congrats. If you don’t, except the criticism. R Ashwin destroyed them completely. Earlier, they were celebrating as if they have won the Indian Premier League. RCB won six matches and not the title. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have won five titles each and have made comebacks from the hopeless situation. And now we have RCB. They defeated rivals in six contests and look at their celebration style,” he added.
