The much-anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 is drawing near, and it is undoubtedly the biggest and most-awaited competition of the year. This upcoming edition will mark India’s first time hosting the tournament on its own.
Previously, India co-hosted the competition with Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. However, this time, India is set to host the entire tournament independently.
India has previously co-hosted the World Cup three times. Their first co-hosting experience was in 1987, followed by 1996 and 2011. The tournament’s history spans 12 editions, with the inaugural event taking place in 1975 in England. The current defending champions are England, who clinched their maiden title in 2019. Australia hold the record for the most World Cup victories, having triumphed on five occasions. India and West Indies are the only other teams to have won the competition more than once, with two victories each.
The schedule for the ICC World Cup 2023 has been announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
