Former India captain Virat Kohli recently opened on his captaincy tenure, and he rated himself in this aspect of the game.
Virat was surprised that he was labeled a failed captain, as India couldn’t win any ICC tournament during his time. He highlighted the team’s performances.
“India made it to the final of the Champions Trophy in 2017, semi-final of the ODI World Cup in 2019 and the final of the World Test Championship in my leadership. We only failed in the 2021 T20 World Cup. However, I was considered as a failed captain,” he said.
“I don’t judge myself like that. What we acheive as a team and the cultural changes that came were the most imporant things. A tournnamnet happens for a certain period of time and the culture happens for a long time. For that you need consistency. So that is more important,” he added.
He also spoke about winning the ICC trophies as a player.
“Look, I have won ICC ODI World Cup in 2011 and Champiosn Trophy in 2013. A lot of people haven’t won that,” he concluded.
