Meg Lanning was furious with herself after Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). She took all the blame on herself as DC were bowled out for 105.
Although Lanning was the top-scorer for her team, accumulating 43 balls but she took 41 balls.
Saika Ishaque, Issy Wong and Amelia Kerr didn’t allow Delhi to score heavily and dismissed three batters each of the rivals.
MI easily chased down the target with Yastika Bhatia (41), Hayley Matthews (32) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (23 not out), making things easy for the Mumbai-based franchise.
Meanwhile, Lanning, who is the Orange Cap holder at the moment in WPL 2023, was unhappy with her display.
“I’ll take a lot of blame for our batting today in the 2nd half of our innings as I took up too many balls at the start, but couldn’t capitalise. I feel a bit silly wearing Orange Cap.”
